and Harlow, the dog
The wedding was great fun and beautiful and the bride and groom included the big doodle who always comes to my house. Harlow takes over, but in a good way. Today is an all day power outage so I am at the neighborhood cafe awkwardly typing and posting and worrying about all sorts of battery stuff. I was going to drive someplace but the garage door won't open. I blame Trump. But details. Now. I enjoyed two hours at the Chicago Art Institute on Friday before joining Nancy and family for lunch and then a visit to Navy Pier which was busy and hot and great for kids. OK, more tomorrow, depending on PG&E of course.

and another marriage
My next door neighbor Allison married Peter ~ two wonderful people. Big reception down at the Firehouse at Fort Mason. Glorious weather and great Mexican lunch from the food truck. Lots of fun and joy and no more weddings for awhile please. Hermits need days off too...

Above we have a bad photo of the Zak Ove installation in front of City
Hall. The mask of invisibility for so many black people. Impressive and
sad ~ see it. Then I always like the wedding activity in our beautiful
City Hall. All sexes, colors and ages ~ so SF. Downstairs they have a
wonderful photo exhibit ~ all by women behind their cameras.

wedding bells again
Daniel J. and Kati were married yesterday at the Depot Hotel Restaurant
in Sonoma. Some of you will remember that Dr. J and I worked together
at the Borders store. It was a beautiful wedding, perfect in every way.
My ex-boss John and co-worker Lev were my dates and we sat at the
Doctor Who table which warmed my heart. (The Blogmaid and family
are Doctor Who fans.) I felt honored to be invited to this event and
I know that Dr. and Mrs. J will be VERY happy together. Very.

more wedded bliss
I think my favorite part of the entire event was when the bride and groom
danced to "These are a Few of my Favorite Things" ~ I did get a bit misty
because they had obviously gone to a lot of trouble to learn some fancy
footsteps and yes, we were wowed. Here's to Claire and Syd ~ thank you
for including us last Saturday, we had a glorious time.

a wedding by the bay
| RR with her father (Bill) and sister Claire-the-bride |
| A spectacular setting for a wedding |
attended yesterday down at Maverick's Event Center in Half Moon Bay.
The Blogmaid's step daughter married Sydney and it was such a beautiful
and comfortable event for everyone and such fun because all the people
involved are interesting, smart and just plain NICE. We stayed down there
at the aptly named Comfort Inn overnight and that was a very good idea.
More tomorrow - with photos...

rain the night before, but we all lucked out, especially Margot and Sam.
About 200 guests enjoyed the hills, lavender growing everywhere, clear
sunshine and happy friends and family of the couple. Husbando said to
get a lot of pictures, but it all looks so flat compared to the real thing.
Trust me, it was one of the most beautiful settings imaginable for a
wedding and the tree leaves turning every color possible in the dense
forests and hilly little towns.
In the morning we did some smart outlet mall shopping with our friend
Carlini and then had a bad breakfast at the Waffle House. But it was
great seeing him again and he is happy and healthy.
I had my iPhone for texting and baseball (pretending to be taking
photos) and it was no way to go to sleep late after our Giants loss.
Home tomorrow and doesn't that sound good?

scenes from a wedding
The famous Swedenborgian Church (Lyon and Washington)was drafted by Bernard Maybeck. I'd never been
inside and it is a delight. The fireplace in the back of the room
crackled because our Nov. drizzle arrived yesterday.
All wooden warmth with lots and lots of candles.
She married Laszlo yesterday afternoon and
friends and family gathered together to celebrate the couple.
friends and family gathered together to celebrate the couple.
Rita (left) came from Colorado ~ remember her fromthe Denver Museum visit? Jodi is next to her here.
Gun Club out there at Lake Merced. Much light and laughter. When
I bitch about work, I need to stop and remember all the amazing
friends that I have met at the museums in the past 3 years.
Lucy's relatives from Indiana were here and her husband's parents
and sister arrived from Hungary. Delicious food and much joy. The
language barriers always make for unusual happenings, don't they?
Now this blogger needs a few days without social gatherings. Know
what I mean? Except for Sunday night, of course, when we have a
very late lunch with The Plotniks...

who could ask for a better wedding?
On the path from the parking lot to the "chapel"
private oasis in Portola Valley. Perfect, perfect weather ~ not too warm
and no wind. The bride and groom stood at the altar as the sun
filtered through those amazing redwood trees. (We didn't get lost
on the way down and only once on the way home.)
There was a long cocktail hour and we enjoyed chatting with new and
old friends. Dinner for 150 people is usually not too exciting, but our
steaks were really quite good and we sat with some v. interesting
and charming people. Husbando remembered how to knot his tie
and of course we all said and received, "you haven't changed at all",
to people we hadn't seen in 20 or so years.
The bride and groom are absolutely delightful people and will be
moving here from NYC in the fall. Congratulations to Jessica and John!
