in-home movie day
Amy, Heidi, Annabelle and I had a lovely afternoon around my TV yesterday. Two Flix® movies, popcorn and Kleenex®. The Marty Short doc was better than expected and I enjoyed watching Remarkably Bright Creatures again. Microwave popcorn was a hit ~ I outdid myself.

Oscar fun with pizza
Like clockwork. Nicole, Meredith and Heidi joined me for the smooth, no-surprises Awards ceremony last night and we had a good time discussing the actors and what they were wearing. Conan does a fine job hosting, as did I. The dishes were done and I was in bed by 9pm. Applause, please.

"the shorts"
I so wish these little gems were available to way more people. Yesterday Amy and I spent the afternoon at Opera Plaza watching six animated films and five live action short films. My favorites: The Singers, Friend of Dorothy and Jane Austen's Period Drama. And the clever animated films; The Three Sisters, Retirement Plan and The Girl Who Cried Pearls. March 15th for the Awards Ceremony. Yay!

Oscar prep
Yesterday I watched The Secret Agent on Prime on Samsung. Today I will do a little research about Brazil in the 1970's. I did like this movie and Wagner Moura is quite wonderful ~ we loved him as Escobar in Narcos, remember? Next up is Hamnet and I will skip F1 and maybe Bugonia? I need to stock up on microwave popcorn as there is rain in the forecast. Rain = movies.

another WIN
Meredith, Nicole and Heidi joined Annabelle and me to watch Nikki Glaser successfully host another Golden Globes last night. Pizza and salad and a few good laughs. And this was after the 49ers beat the Eagles. A lot to celebrate yesterday.

there is work to do
I need to get busy watching these nominations, which I was going to print out and drop in here for you, but I do not have time this morning, so you will need to do your own research. In the meantime, the fun ceremony will be on Sunday, January 11th, 5pm, and this is already in my 2026 calendar.

good time & good timing
Well, how about this Blogger seeing Anora the day before the big win? Meredith, Nicole and Heidi squeezed into my tiny back room and we had pizza and salad and Girl Scout cookies with tea, while we oohed and ahhhed at the Oscar Party. Conan O'Brien did a fine job and I actually agreed with most of the choices for winners. I have a few more movies to stream or to enjoy in actual theaters, but I was proud to have seen as many as I did. A fine event, all in all.

great short films
Yesterday I met Amy at the Opera Plaza theatre for an afternoon of very well done shorts. We did this last year and it is such a treat to see so much talent all at once. I think, all in all, we saw nine (or ten?) excellent shorts from all around the world.

well, that was fun
Nicole came down for pizza and two salads (and cookies and tea) to watch the Globes which we both thought was VERY well done. I have a long list now of "what to watch next" and will begin first shot with Emilia Perez. The host, Nikki Glaser, was terrific and I am now a new fan.

pizza party and Oscars
Nicole, Meredith, Heidi and I strained a bit around my tiny TV to watch the Oscars last night. I ordered too much pizza and thanks to the Blogmaid we had ballots and bingo cards. It was a fine production, with a few flaws, and a nice Sunday night celebration with neighbors/friends.

better already
This is my kind of time change. I already slept in to a "decent" hour (6am) and I will stay up tonight until 9:30 or so. Of course the Oscars are tonight and for a change I have seen many of the movies. Plus no more heavy rains and the new floor is in Emma's Room and all in all, life is very, very good this lovely Sunday morning.

many movies in one afternoon
I've always wanted to see the Oscar Nominated Shorts before the actual ceremony, in a real theater, and so yesterday Amy and I spent the afternoon at Opera Plaza and that was a fine experience out of the big rainstorm that flooded parts of the city. Yikes. I believe most of these are available for streaming and so I recommend The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (above) and Red, White and Blue produced by Samantha Bee. Fabulous animated films too, including War is Over! inspired by the music of John and Yoko. We saw 9 or 10 films ~ well done!

party time!
Last night was Nicole's Chat & Chew and we discussed movies and several of the women only watch on their computers so I will host a little Oscar party on Sunday, March 10th. Everyone welcome. These awards shows are so wonderfully ridiculous and fun.

yes, worth watching
Another boys' boarding school movie, but The Holdovers is pretty good thanks to the acting of Paul Giamatti and scenes in Boston, a city I love. I streamed this one, but today is Alamo Tuesday and I am getting used to REAL movie going again. Yay.

imperfect, but fun (again)
So glad the Golden Globes returned this year and of course I watched last night. Now that I am back in actual movie theaters and streaming like crazy, I consider myself a movie goer again. I agreed with some choices, disagreed with many and loved the costumes and messy speeches.

this was the best part
How refreshing to see and hear Lady Gaga without make-up and wearing ripped jeans last night at the Oscar ceremony. Of course I watched the entire thing and it was okay and hooray for the winners, etc.

good timing, Ms. Blogger!
Yesterday I took myself to see Parasite because I love a mystery and this
was on my list for quite awhile. And then last night, a very smooth Oscar
program and this fun South Korean movie won Best Picture. I concur,
even though I haven't seen every movie nominated. Yet...

three entertaining hours
Some strange fashions at the Golden Globes last night, but it was fun
texting with the Blogmaid and I was surprised at how many of the films
I had seen, thanks mostly to Netflix and Amazon Prime. I like Ricky
Gervais even if he loves to shock his audience. Now I need to see "Once
Upon a Time in....Hollywood" and I will feel complete, award-wise.
