we spent a day in Half Moon Bay

The three Big City Women (Pat, Neti, Blogger), on the right, met Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid for lunch at It's Italia on Main Street yesterday and yes, we had a delightful time. HMB offers lots of charming gift shops, free street parking and benches everywhere which is just so civilized. After lunch we walked and talked and had coffee because we simply did not want to leave.

keeping up with the Kahans

The Blogmaid is a big Noah Kahan fan and I was curious, so I watched the documentary on Netflix last night. This engaging man from Vermont is a poet who is so very open about his feelings and emotions. Noah is a guitar player, singer and song writer and I now see what all the "fuss" is about. I'm glad that the Blogmaid gets to see Noah in person at the ballpark this month. Yay!

Sunday on the Embarcadero

Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid kindly included me in their adventure to the Ferry Building yesterday. SF was a bit messy thanks to the Marathon, but we made it in time for lunch at Gott's and then to Book Passage for an author event, a friend and neighbor of the Blogmaid Family. Callisto Lodwick and her first novel. The top photo is a brand new and very cool mermaid next door to the Ferry Building. It was adorned and appreciated by the Blogmaid yesterday. A very nice SF day.

north to Rancho Cordova

So nice to be included in this visit to the Blogmaid's mama yesterday. First, lunch at Brookfield, an excellent all American restaurant in Rancho Cordova, then time to visit and take photos by Audrey's always popular lemon tree, then a visit to the grave of Blogmaid's father. It was a delight spending time with Cass too, yes ~ definitely all grown up and ready for a brilliant, artistic future. For my many (subtle joke) out of state readers, Rancho Cordova is up near Sacramento. Grateful to have been part of this happy family gathering and to be in actual sunshine sans fog.

bagels and art and bleak weather

Yup, May Gray is here and June Gloom will follow. That's OK, we bundle up. Yesterday the Blogmaid and I met for lattes at the Chit Chat Cafe on the pier in Pathetica. I needed a touch of therapy with my bagel. Then on to the Open Studios at the Sanchez Art Center in Linda Mar where I had never been and I thank my friend for taking me to/fro. A good Saturday indeed.

belated birthday celebration

The Blogmaid wanted to see the Manet and Morisot exhibit out at the Legion for her 17-day-late bday commemoration so off we went to join a few thousand other people yesterday. But first a yummy lunch down at MY cafe and some good catch-up conversation. So nice of her to drive ~ a lovely day all around and a warm memory glow this morning.

one grand Christmas Day!

With warm and sincere thanks to Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid for hosting. It was a day that we will all remember, filled with fabulous food and lively conversations and so much beauty and warmth.

meeting at the Chit Chat Cafe

Thanks to the Blogmaid for the photos and for meeting me for coffee/bagel yesterday in Pathetica. I do love the fisher woman top shot ~ we sometimes forget that our pier down there is used daily for basic human food needs, not just because it is adds so much to the visual beauty of the often stormy ocean.

scallops by the sea

I was yearning for very expensive scallops yesterday, so Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid treated Neti and me to a lavish lunch at Nick's down in Pathetica. Such a wonderful old fashioned restaurant. We had lots of laughs and I tasted my first fried pickle, so you know the day was a success. And may I mention the warm brownie with ice cream? Of course I must. With many, many thanks ~ a delightful Sunday for sure.

summer has arrived

It was just SO beautiful in Pathetica yesterday ~ no fog, no wind. Lots of people and dogs, of course, and the Blogmaid and I enjoyed our walk, lattes and good catch-up conversation at the Chit Chat Cafe.

Half Moon Bay Day

Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid joined Neti and me at It's Italia for lunch to celebrate Neti and just chit chat about everything under the emerging sun. Pumpkinville was busy and bustling and we had a terrific time. So many interesting retail stores and a delightful little coffee shop because we needed a sit down and lattes after a lot of "shall I buy this?" kind of earth shaking decisions. An excellent day ~ thank you HMB.

clever name, lovely lunch

So nice to see Sylvia again (bottom right) and thanks to Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid for driving to/fro Mill Valley and for treating us to an excellent lunch of salad, fries, pizza. For my hundreds of out-of-town readers (joke). we are located here almost right next to Mount Tamalpais, usually just called Mount Tam. Such a nice day, gratitude abounds once more.

congratulations ~ 20 years!

Today Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid celebrate their wedding anniversary and we all send them love and gratitude and wow, tons of wonderful memories in those two decades. It seems like only yesterday, as the old folks say. Well, it does.

the Pixar experience

The Blogmaid's family included me in a wonderful tour of the huge Pixar complex in Emeryville yesterday. Wow! Niece Jade (on the right) has worked there for a few years and she was a terrific tour guide. We walked all over and admired the art, the audio, the outdoor swimming pool, the big gym, the many cafes, the amphitheater and the beautiful architecture. Then we saw a brand new Pixar movie that comes out very soon and my lips are sealed until then But, yes, it is excellent.

back to MOMA

Mr. and Ms. Blogmaid were kind enough to include me on a trip to SF Moma yesterday and we had a splendid time revisiting Amy Sherald and Kara Walker (pictured here). A lovely lunch on the 5th floor and some smart shopping in the gift store. A lovely day indeed. I always see and learn something new when I visit an exhibit for the 2nd or even 3rd time.

the birthday of the Blogmaid

What a nice day we had! More Mary Cassatt at the Legion of Honor and then an Asian lunch on Balboa Street. As someone pointed out, the Blogmaid seems to be aging backwards, I'm sure you agree. I celebrate this very special friend everyday, along with her husband, Bill, of course.

as ready as we can be

The Blogmaid and Sister Jane enjoyed a day on the coast while I did some Thanksgiving tasks yesterday. You can see that I was busy baking too many pies and the festive feline had to be locked out of the dining room for obvious reasons. Happy Thanksgiving to all (hahahaha) my readers and friends. Yes, I am indeed grateful. Very.

a tale (tail) of two rabbits

In the top photo we have MY rabbit on the back deck, given to me by the Blogmaid when she was pregnant with RR. So it's my 21 year old rabbit now.  I spotted the sibling rabbit next to Kathryn's home up on 27th Street Wednesday night. This seems like an omen and a good one. I do believe it means that Kamala will win the election. don't you?

friendship in the fog

The Blogmaid and I enjoyed a brisk walk along the ocean in Pathetica yesterday. We talked of many, many things, apu. Our reward was coffee and a bagel in the Chit Chat Cafe on the pier. Not too many other hearty souls out yesterday, mostly dog owners. A lovely Friday. xoxo

cool down by the Bay

The Blogmaid and family were kind (as always) yesterday and we went to the Ramp for lunch and then enjoyed a good walk around the Chase Center with the happy tourist middle photo here. And this morning the fog has returned. Whoosh.
