Memories abound

When I was down at Sunset Dunes last week I just had to snap this photo because I knew how much these colors mean to my friend in Albuquerque. I miss her and she also helped me learn more about this part of San Francisco ~ a whole different world for sure. xo

Sunset Dunes

We have a new park in this city of parks. Controversial, but everything here is always a battle and people who live down here do not like giving up their Great Highway and the car is still king. But hey, we have another park and it is really glorious despite the fog. There were a ton of people walking, biking, skating and just enjoying nature yesterday and I had a good walk too. So much space and all flat, clean bathrooms too and this park will just get better and better. Sunset Dunes was created for coastal conservation and sand dune restoration. I vote "yes" and I enjoyed my invigorating walk yesterday. San Francisco has 220 parks, every resident lives within a ten minute walk to a park. Amazing, really.

tale of two cities

The top photo is my step daughter Nancy's back yard. She lives outside Chicago. So pretty and so not tempting to me. By now you all know our Ocean Beach where I went for a brisk walk yesterday ~ lots of people and dogs and laughter and coastal appreciation. West Coast, that is.

as the crow flies

I needed some different fog yesterday so I headed to Ocean Beach where a few other brave souls were all bundled up. The air is so clean and clear down here, even if the sun remains hidden. After a good walk I enjoyed my LindaKindle4 and a latte and yes, contentment rocks.

ferocious winds

The ocean was roiling yesterday and it was impossibly windy, so Ginger and I stayed in the car and looked out at nature yesterday. The tulips are blooming in Golden Gate Park, but honestly it was too scary to park under any trees and we could barely open the car doors. So we had coffee and a snack inside the car and talked about everything and nothing. Brrrrrrrr. That spec in the photo is a guy on a surf board thing and his kite. I hope he is still alive today.

The GREAT Highway

The stretch of road along Ocean Beach is closed to traffic on Saturday and Sunday, hoooray. Even though a lot of people were out enjoying the sea air and the gorgeous sunshine, it didn't seem crowded at all because of the open road. Bikes, trikes, skates, strollers, dogs and a gazillion walkers. Neti and I walked and then had dim sum at Shailai Seasfood on Geary Blvd. A very fine Saturday indeed.

Brrrrrr and breathe

Yesterday Ginger and I went to the Great Ocean to breathe deeply and hope for a bit of rain-free time. We won! It was cold but we got a good walk in and then had our coffee on a bench overlooking this magnificent ocean. Part of the fun for me is driving down Geary Street which is a hodge podge of small stores and neighborhood restaurants and all seemed to have survived the pandemic. Check out all the birds in the middle photo ~ sturdy little creatures.

we all need to breathe deeply

There is nothing like a walk along our magnificent ocean to clear out the cobwebs and to cleanse our lungs. SF is so fortunate with the sea breezes to keep out all that smoke, most of the time. You can see that the blue sky is starting to peak out yesterday as Ginger and I walked along the seashore, counting the fishermen and surfers and marveling at so much beauty. There were no Lodgers there...

down to the sea

Ginger and I walked down at Land's End yesterday and then had our coffee overlooking the ocean and how lovely is this? There is nothing like fresh sea air to revitalize the spirit. The tourists are returning and traffic is getting difficult again. Morning fog, then sun ~ it could be worse.

my early Sunday walk

The Great Highway is closed to cars at Lincoln

Fake taxi

Oh, what a morning!

I hit Ocean Beach yesterday morning before I had time to whine that it was
windy and cold. It was, also invigorating and just what I needed. Breathe.

as the sea soothes

Ginger and I had a lovely long walk on the Great Highway yesterday and
I vowed once again to get out there more often. Really, it is only about
20 minutes away from Casa Annabelle. No air is fresher, no people happier
than the ones walking by the ocean with their (forbidden) dogs and
acceptable children. And now for the Mueller Report...

something borrowed

My dear friend Linda walks at the ocean in SF everyday. She has the eye
and she has a camera and a blog and I just needed to have her photo for
my blog. Today. I did not ask permission, but I do give lots of credit
and thank you talented woman by the sea.

oh, what a day!

I mean, how could you NOT go down to the ocean on a day like yesterday?
It was not only clear and gorgeous, it was actually warm. After a nice long
walk we headed to 5th and California for some excellent Burmese food.
Such fortunate people and we avoided all meteors and asteroids too.

don't be deceived

It looks gorgeous, but actually it was v. windy and unpleasant at Ocean
Beach this morning. Those brown spots on the sand are for bonfires
(I think), in anticipation of the long holiday weekend. Mollie goes back
to Portland tomorrow, so we both needed a walk and some chit chat.
With that wind we had to yell and all that fresh air makes me think that
a nap might be approaching rapidly and momentarily. Yawn...
