This blog helps me research my past. I joined 24 Lite seven years ago!
Amazing. I'm trying to get back to going three times a week, but so
far, if I go twice, I'm pleased. Biking, lifting, reading, people watching...
They call me: stein, msmas, mush, m.a., mary ann, mary lou, mary om, or just plain mary (and you may too)

getting back to normal
Man, those damn holidays can sure screw up one's life. I'm just now
returning to twice-a-week at the gym and then the rewarding walk
and latte afterwards. Of course the sunshine just helps everything
and everyone. My goal is three-times-a-week for 24 Lite because
exercise followed by coffee and a good book is essential.

back to normal (almost)
Yesterday I returned to 24 Lite to bike for about 25 minutes. I still
can't do the push/pull machine things, but maybe in another few
weeks. My left arm grows stronger and at this point I just email
the doc once a week and she pats me on the shoulder in a virtual manner.

ooooooooops
That first faulty blogger alert was emailed to some of my faithful readers
before I was ready for anything, really. I was just fooling around with
a poem (not mine) about baseball and I couldn't get the spacing right.
Did you know that I'm going to Spring Training again? In March with
Ginger. I'm sick of football, not that I watch it, but it's hard to avoid.
Today I'm going to 24 LITE to get back onto the bike and to pump
just a little iron, as they say. It's so easy not to go and with all the Ken
(car) problems, the trip to Santa Barbara and working a bit too much.
Oh yes, then we have holiday stuff and lists, you know the drill.
I'm having lunch with Gini later and then home to hit the Grisham
novel and address a few xmas cards. So that's it, you get two alerts today!

how is this working out?
Let's see. I started 24 Hour LITE back in April. I was then, and still am,
encouraged by the word LITE because it seems less imposing/serious
than terms such as "workout" or even "exercise". Well, this is one of
the better decisions in my life (right up there with stopping smoking
and not drinking) and I'm delighted with the gym on 24th Street
because there are a lot of older people working the various machines.
I go two (trying for three, depending on schedule) times a week and
I start by biking for 15 minutes, then working assorted other con-
traptions for approximately 20 more minutes. The people who work
there are pleasant and it's never too crowded. Amazing, even on a
Saturday I can get to whatever machine I want to use. And, just like
"they" say, I feel great when I finish. Endorphin talk and all...
