Night Bloom under glass
The Great Plotniks and I went to the Conservatory of Flowers last
night thanks to comps from dear Carlo ~ I used to work with him at
the museum. Now he is employed here and his display talents shine
through once again. Intriguing lights and forest sounds and always
the amazing plants, seen differently than usual. Lovely indeed.

Carlo under glass

| Tanya, Pamela and Carlo at the BIG party here |
I love the all-glass Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park and even
donated money when the Earthquake caused such damage. Carlo used to
work with us at the museums (as the very talented display guy) and now
he is at the Conservatory and is the creator of the big holiday light show
event entitled Night Bloom. He sent me three tickets and The Great Plotniks
will join me on Dec. 10th to ooooh and ahhhhh and be impressed.

back to my park
God, I love the Conservatory of Flowers and I did NOT want to miss the
light show that ends October 21st. Of course these night photos don't do
this justice, but it was glorious and perfectly wonderful in every way.
It actually started at 7:18 pm, but we parked right in front about 6:30. A
private party was happening, however the best seats were for us common
folk sitting on benches and on the grass. Thank you again, SF.

our glass wonder

The Conservatory of Flowers had to be restored after the lastearthquake and it seemed to take forever and I missed it. After
that, I was determined to visit more often, so yesterday after 4
hours of work at the deYoung I went to pay my respect.
There is a sweet low tech exhibit called Playland at the Beach
showing currently and that's the original sign in the second photo.
Playland was demolished in 1972 so more condos and a Safeway
could be built down there, right across from the ocean. They
play the old music in the exhibit ~ you'll see Laughing Sal too.
So pleasant, especially since it was cold out and it's always
too warm and moist inside, and I like to wander about and
check out the happy plants thriving inside the glass dome.
