male friendship and...
A whole lot of unusual in DTF St. Louis which I finished yesterday. Whoosh. Do I recommend it? Oh, indeed I do. Some people binge this one but I needed to breathe and think between episodes. You will find this on HBO so hurry up and let the sunshine in.

for Steve Carell fans...
...and I am one. Thanks to Terri for this recommendation of Rooster on HBO. This takes place on some fictional college town and so far I like it a lot. And no violence so far, a relief from my other TV choices.

and more than financial worries
I'm usually not a fan of crying babies, but Margo's Got Money Troubles is pretty good, in my opinion. I really like Nick Offerman who plays the granddad in this Apple TV miniseries. After Husbando passed I binged Park & Rec and got to know him there. Plus it's good to see Michelle Pfeiffer again and Elle Fanning is an accomplished actor. You can mute the crying baby...

trying to get hooked!
Everyone loves Industry on HBO and I am trying, but a slow beginning for me. How to get to Heaven from Belfast is new on the Flix® and it is pretty good so far. Today I will be a good little Valentine and watch Hamnet, the movie.

some great tv
Riot Women is such a glorious and fun (and sad) experience from British Television. I get this on Prime but don't ask me how that works. And yes, there will be a Season Two. Hooray! Check it out...

another WIN
Meredith, Nicole and Heidi joined Annabelle and me to watch Nikki Glaser successfully host another Golden Globes last night. Pizza and salad and a few good laughs. And this was after the 49ers beat the Eagles. A lot to celebrate yesterday.

North of North
Thanks to Terri for recommending North of North to binge watch during these dreary January days and nights. Just what I need currently. A young Inuk mother hopes to reinvent herself in the small arctic town where everyone knows everyone's business. From the Canadian Broadcasting Company on Netflix.

yay ~ a Scottish detective
Mission accomplished yesterday ~ this little house is free of red and green baubles and bangles. Flat spaces re-emerged and yes, I did organize the big plastic holiday box. Done. My reward was to begin the three seasons of Karen Pirie on Prime. Happiness (well, satisfaction) reigns on many levels this morning.

a comic break, please
I will never know why there is so much tragedy this time of year. It is easy to fall into a gloomy mood when reading all the news. Having a mean imbecile for our President helps nothing. I do recommend the latest Knives Out (#3) on Netflix. The best so far, in my opinion. Fun stuff.

there is work to do
I need to get busy watching these nominations, which I was going to print out and drop in here for you, but I do not have time this morning, so you will need to do your own research. In the meantime, the fun ceremony will be on Sunday, January 11th, 5pm, and this is already in my 2026 calendar.

catch this documentary
Mariska Hargitay has always been a favorite actor of mine, mostly from all her work on Law & Order. My Mom Jayne is very well done, in my opinion. The interviews with her brothers and sisters tell us so much and of course the shocking death of her glamorous and talented mother, Jayne Mansfield. This is on HBO Max and I think it will win awards in 2026. Ah, family.

Emma Thompson rocks
I skipped 60 Minutes last night to avoid watching and hearing tRump lie his ass off once again. What a delight to enjoy two episodes of Down Cemetery Road with Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson, two favorite actors of mine. Apple tv does it again. Win!

better and better
Season 5 of Slow Horses is such a treat. Last night's episode was rich with glorious irony. Some of my friends are waiting to binge at the end but I can't NOT watch every week. Genius.

old favorites return
So very satisfying. Slow Horses is on Apple tv and The Diplomat on Netflix. I think television just gets better and better, don't you?

making good trouble
It's a relief to have Saturday Night Live back in our lives and they did not disappoint with this bit making fun of Hegseth in front of the military brass. tRump will retaliate, of course, but let us hope that we can keep free speech in place as they try to smash our democracy.

blood and drama
Here we have Mark Ruffalo looking old and tired as an FBI agent on Task on HBO Max. I had to look away with some of the violence, but I am used to that these days. Mark is in charge of three young FBI agents (all with "issues") on his task force and that part of the story line is the most fun for me. So far.

Hulu off/Hulu on
I had to do some fiddling with Hulu and it still puzzles me that we pay for this streaming business and then have to endure so many ads. In any event, Only Murders in the Building makes me laugh and that's worth a lot these days.

yay ~ a favorite returns
Apple TV is giving us a new episode every week of the most wonderful Slow Horses and it was just what I needed last night after a day of too much grim political news. It did NOT disappoint.

unhealthy relationships
Let's take a break from guns and political rhetoric and watch a little drama on Prime TV. I'm a fan of Robin Wright who plays the overbearing mother on The Girlfriend. Olivia Cooke is the girlfriend and none of these characters is particularly honorable. But fun. Escape.

music has no borders
This documentary on Prime was a pleasant break from detective stories and the news last night. From 2020 when Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne joined a bus tour to Mexico for music and dancing. Linda and the Mockingbirds is positive and refreshing.
