cars and parking
I guess we all have the love/hate thing with the auto. There is one ALMOST
in our driveway currently that could probably be used as a planter because it
has been there for more than the legal 72 consecutive hours. Way more.
And yet it isn't a monster SUV or pick-up truck, so we let it go. "It could
be worse," our usual motto for the SF parking situation.
Speaking of cars and SF, I just finished reading the George Packer article in
the May 27th New Yorker entitled "Change the World" and I recommend
it highly. All about Silicon Valley, SF, young techies and how everything
is changing so quickly ~ often for the best, often not.

all around the town
Yesterday we headed out, taking Ken (the car) to downtown. Yes,
no bus stories today. So sorry. Parked almost in front of SFMoma
and jumped in to see the rooms filled with photography. That's
it, about an hour of museum time before lunch.
Parking used to be free on holidays, but no longer. Still easier
than on a work day. We next parked on Columbus, right before
Broadway and walked to Yuet Lee on Stockton Street. This is
one of the best Chinese Seafood Restaurants in the city, so
I had a half of roast duck. Go figure. Husbando had a luscious
clams in black bean sauce (spicy) and we both ate way too
much. What are holidays for?
Yuet Lee used to have a restaurant (a few blocks from our
home) here in the Mission. Husbando and the owner
reminisced about the good old days. The owner has
aged but miraculously we haven't.
Still nice weather when we came home, so I walked up to
Cortland to meet a friend for coffee. Everyone was out and
about enjoying the fine rain-free day. Yes, yes, I know we
need the rain, but this was such a relief.

feet, skates and parking
work, Ms. Brain. I have seen them on Frisco people and stared.
Now let's get this over quickly. It cost me $24.50 to park at
the museum yesterday. I have never done that before and I
will never do it again, but it was a mess out there and I caved.
Husbando surprised me by guessing $30.00 and then treating
it lightly. Anyone who knows him will be shocked.
We watched Whip It last night. That's Juliette Lewis (left)
and Ellen Page in green. It's far-fetched, but I'm a sucker for
strong women movies and I really enjoyed this. Husbando,
not so much. Marcia Gay Harden was the mama. As you
know, it's all about the Roller Derby in Austin, Tx. Fun.

the pink paper is important
Last week notthat over there had a post about the clunker parked
in front of his home and how it took up two spaces. Yes, I know,
the space in front of Casa Verde isn't really OUR exclusive parking
place, but sheeeeez, could we park there every once in a while?
I have three pet peeves:
1) people who only use their garages for storage and then park their
car(s) on the street. Get rid of your excess stuff. Donate.
2) families that have more than 2 cars ~ really irritating.
3) I hate the big monster SUVs. Hate them. Ban them.
So, SF has a web site now and we can print out our warnings!
This one reminds the driver that there is a 72 hour limit or they
could face a $75 fine. Much better than my old hand-written
"are you EVER going to move this huge, ugly SUV?" signs and
probably more effective.
