and then he took a bus

OK, I am a bit intrigued by the NYC killer pictured here. I asked my Co-pilot AI for an explanation as to why health insurance companies are so hated. Of course I know from my own past experience and honestly I prefer Medicare and am a great fan of Kaiser these days. There is a fear, by the way, that the gunman will become a cult hero.  The internet sleuths are just not engaging. Here from my assistant at Co-pilot:

Health insurance companies are often disliked due to their complex bureaucracy, frequent denial of claims, and lack of transparency. Many people find it difficult to navigate the system, and coverage for necessary treatments can be unexpectedly denied. Additionally, high premiums and out-of-pocket costs can make healthcare unaffordable for many, leading to widespread frustration and resentment. The perception that these companies prioritize profits over patient care further fuels public anger.

if one must...

...see doctors, do tests, get sick, get well, vaccinate and all those other
health issue things, then I say, "oh, thank god for Kaiser." I saw my doc
on Monday, had all the bloodwork done yesterday at 6:30am (the fasting
thing - no coffee even!) and this morning all my results are here for me
to print out and compare with the previous five years. Honestly, I so
appreciate this huge organization and all that they offer for VERY little
money. When I have any sort of problem or question I email my doc
and she writes back the same day. My only wish is that all people (even
the poor) could have this kind of excellent care. P.S. I am Fine. Yes indeed.

stepping up to do what's right

Well, well, well ~ hoooooray and hallelujah to the five Supreme Court
justices, especially Chief Justice Roberts who joined the winning team
and ruled to uphold the meat of the health care law. Just like Social Security
and Medicare, the right wing will be fighting this for years and years. But
for today let's just enjoy this very special victory.

not that I've read it

...but the 60/40 vote in favor of Health Care Reform in the Senate
early this morning (or late last night?) is a v. big deal. Of course
it is an imperfect piece of legislation, but it is a step in the right
(left) direction and it had to be done now while the Democrats
are still in the majority.

I love the visual of the camel's nose inside the tent. That's the
GOP argument of why we don't want to expand health care
coverage, because it will lead to socialized medicine. Get movin',
Mr. Camel!
