not an April Fool's joke

The Blogmaid felt this relatively strong (4.6 magnitude) earthquake but Annabelle and I didn't. Or maybe she did, and just doesn't want to talk about it. This one was centered in the Santa Cruz Mountains and residents down there felt a strong jolt. Somehow, compared to Trump, this seems mild to me.

unbelievable earthquake horror

It's impossible to comprehend the number of deaths from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Yesterday I sent $$$ to Direct Relief, based in Santa Barbara, and today I will give to the Red Cross. I try NOT to turn away from the TV news, but this is just too horrible. I complain when my gas fireplace breaks down or because I have low water pressure. Oh, yes, and the traffic and what? No parking! Sheeeeeesh.

OK, I did it

I bought a 3-day survival kit from Earth Shakes in Burlingame yesterday
because there was an article in the Chronicle and I liked the looks of
the owners. We all know the next one will happen. While browsing
the webside I note that they have a kit for cats too. Should I?

a quick jolt

At 7:18 last night while watching the Warriors beat the Rockets. They
finally said it was a 3.5 earthquake but only seasoned Bay Area folks
knew what was happening at the time, I betcha. The Blogmaid and I
texted, knowing exactly what had occurred two miles from Piedmont, CA.

ooooops, we forgot

This one was centered in American Canyon and we didn't feel it here,
although other SF residents did. Our friend Chef Sarah emailed from
out in her car (charging batteries) that she had two broken windows
and other mess in her home in Napa. It's easy to forget that we live
in Earthquake Country and it's always Earthquake Weather, whatever
that is. We don't think anyone was seriously hurt, thankfully. It was
a 6.1 and that is pretty strong.

early morning meeting

I was just trying to post a thing from Patrice on How To Survive
an Earthquake, but I'm having problems getting it here on
the blog. Basically it's the Triangle Approach. Don't go under
the desk or bed, lie right next to it because there is usually a
"safe space" there. Same with the car ~ get out and lie beside
it. Of course try to get out of a building, but the stairs can be
iffy as they break away when things collapse.

On that happy note I will quickly tell you that we have an 8am
meeting today and I need to scurry this morning. How I ever
got to Borders at 6am for 8 years is beyond me. But I did and
then was then and now is now and onward, ever onward.

The rain continues as does my damp spirit.

getting my priorities straight

It's hard to feel sorry for myself because I can't seem to get a
ticket for Wicked for under $200 on my rare next Sunday off.
Oh, poor me.

Instead, we both sent checks for Haiti to:
American Red Cross
Bay Area Chapter
85 Second St.
SF 94105
www.redcrossbayarea.org.

Or Unicef, Save the Children, your choice...
