fog relief
To think that there was a time when I complained about our summer fog. Not these days when we hear and read horror stories about our way too hot planet. Yesterday Amy and I had a long and wonderful walk at Crissy Field. The tourists have returned and the natives never left. Lots and lots of happy dogs and wonderful memories too.

Crissy Field on Christmas
Just what I needed, a good long solo walk ~ fresh/fresh air and time to appreciate this beautiful city and my privileged life. Tons of people and dogs, few bikes (yay) and a lifetime of memories with a warm nod to those who are no longer with us. This was always Husbando's favorite walk and some of his ashes are here, of course. Then I had dinner last night at neighbor Heidi's as her husband and sons got depressed about the 49er loss. I missed my Pumpkinville friends, but they are healing from Covid and knocking back Paxlovid.

finally ~ glorious SF weather
What a day! Yesterday Ginger and I walked down at Crissy Field where we haven't been for ages. The air was so clean and crisp. Not too many people out yet, the tourists arrive later in the year. So lovely.

Yay! a walk by the Bay!
Ginger and I hit Crissy Field yesterday in the afternoon and of course there were a lot of people and happy dogs and wonderful clean air. The rains return today so I'm glad we got out yesterday.

bundle up, tourists!
Ginger and I went to Crissy Field for our walk yesterday and while the rest of the world swelters, it was cool and foggy here. These cyclers are all from Germany and seemed to be having a wonderful time despite the weather, or maybe because of it. And yes, we did too.

into the fog
I almost forgot to report on Tuesday's adventure with Ginger. Crissy Field is our default location and it had been awhile since we visited there. You can barely see the bridge or the city skyline, but know that the air was clear and our coffee hot. We secured the front row table, as per usual.

with fog horns moaning
We love the sound of fog horns especially down at Crissy Field, so close to the source. When Ginger and I started walking yesterday we couldn't even see the Golden Gate Bridge but then the dense fog burns off quickly and the lovely background music ceases. Birds are comfortable and hungry here in January.

kids on bikes in the fog
There were probably 50 or so fresh faced teenagers on rented bikes yesterday when Ginger and I walked at Crissy Field. It was early and the other tourists were probably waiting for sunshine (a long wait these days) so we sat and watched them bounce down steps and ride by. One kid stopped to catch his breath and I asked him where they are all from. Utah! We know some lives were changed by a trip to SF, right?

beautiful, despite fog
Back to Crissy Field yesterday with Ginger. It felt "heavy" and this June Gloom is lasting a bit too long. Well, better than extreme heat or hurricanes or floods. Today I will walk the nabe again.

dogs, surfers, sun
It was a gorgeous day at Crissy Field yesterday with Ginger. We had never seen so many dogs and that was quite wonderful. Still not many tourists, thankfully.

did you ask about Tuesday?
Back to Crissy Field with Ginger yesterday. I don't think I have shown you the fishing pier before, but it is well used and for some reason was busier than usual yesterday. And by now I'm used to folks asking me to take their photos in front of our iconic bridge. I just love that all iPhone (and other brands) cameras are so very easy to use, but I do ask if they want my finger in with their keepsake pictures.

coffee by the sea
Crissy on Tuesday with Ginger. Another gorgeous day on the bay. You can see that we had our usual front row seats for coffee and a sweet. Perfect walking and talking weather.

coffee at crissy
A gorgeous day at Crissy Field and the public bathrooms are open again. Now that is a big deal. I bring a small thermos and two china espresso cups and we sit at a table and look out at the city we love so much. That is our view, top photo. Then we walk and walk, getting in our 10,000 steps and breathing the clean air. No pesky tourists yet, but lots of happy dogs.

the best walk in the world
Ginger and I have both been vaccinated twice and we are probably safe to explore our city again. So back to Crissy Field yesterday ~ how beautiful, how peaceful. SF is pretty much tourist-free and I know this is rough on merchants and tax revenues, but glorious for those of us who live here.

Friday with and without a fur ball
Sometimes when I exit the living room to do my chores I am guilty of leaving the fireplace on for a certain soft blob of love who is just too comfortable. Annabelle is so pretty with the gentle glow of firelight on her ultra sweet self. Yesterday Ginger and I returned to Crissy for a beautiful and brisk walk and we talked about the huge snow storm on the East Coast. With just a touch of glee...

bonus from Friday photo!
Back to Crissy Field with Ginger where I snapped our famous bridge and inadvertently captured a racy (I hope) tattoo on this young woman in the short skirt. I can't quite read it. Surprisingly, I appreciate all sorts of tatts from my working days at Borders and Barnes & Noble. My friend Marsha spied the tattoo which I had missed, being so overjoyed with the splashing surf, bright blue sky and aforementioned bridge.

do you call this Winter?
On Friday last, Ginger and I walked at Crissy Field as we often do and it was so lovely. We found a bench and poured strong coffee from the thermos. Counting blessings during 2020 takes a bit of work, but we did our best. You can just barely see the SF skyline here. Still standing, one and all.

cool grey city of covid-19
It's been some weeks since Ginger and I went to Crissy Field where the
air felt so good yesterday on our morning walk. Foggy first, then sun
on that famous bridge. Not too many people and never enough dogs.
This Labor Day weekend is supposed to be hot, but not too for those
of us who live so near the coast.

Crissy minus the three P's
It's been about twelve weeks since Ginger and I walked along the bay at
Crissy Field. Yesterday: no parking, no picnics and the bathrooms were
closed. I brought a thermos of coffee and we sat on a bench and had a
lovely day. We wore masks (except while sipping coffee and eating strudel
and enjoyed dog and people watching. Always Bill's favorite place, so
he was with us in spirit.

retire from work, not from life
Here is a man at Crissy Field demonstrating how he makes the sand balls.
We didn't ask WHY he makes them, but one does wonder. Then again, I
don't want anyone asking me how I spend my free time. This beautiful
weather is over for a few days and we will return to winter.
