a big ol' slice of heaven

As promised... I've heard about Scrap for years and somehow never got here on my own. But thanks to Terri on Friday, this delightful re-use "store" will be my new go-to place for whatever I might be looking for, especially paper products. I also know where to donate such things as brand new calendars, note cards, ribbons, etc. Here from the Scrap official website:

SCRAP is a 501(c)(3) Arts education nonprofit and a creative Reuse center founded in 1976 in San Francisco. Our mission is to put the materials and methods of art-making in reach for everyone, helping people turn everyday objects into creative projects that fuel the human spirit, support community vibrancy and reinforce environmental awareness. And we divert over 200 tons of materials heading from landfill each year!

we are so wasteful

On Monday after the GREAT SISTER PARTY, a volunteer from Food Runners arrived to pick-up the leftovers. They were grateful but I was delighted because I hate to waste food. Composting helps alleviate some guilt, but this felt so good. Too many hungry people, too much food surplus in America.

a fine organization

It's impossible to find the big donation barrels since the Pandemic, so yesterday I dropped off canned goods and a check to the SF Food Bank which is about 8 minutes from my home. I didn't explore too much but there were friendly volunteers and parking and I left with a really warm feeling.

American dollars most welcome

The World Wildlife Fund in Australia is working night and day to rescue
the poor creatures and start the rebuilding process. When we see a map of
the fires it overwhelms and every little bit helps, or so I hope.

a drop in the ocean

Yesterday I visited Meriel in San Leandro and she gave me this pretty
bracelet from 4ocean. I admire this organization and wonder how
they keep their spirits up as we continue to dump all the wrong and
dangerous things into our glorious oceans. Send $$ to 4ocean.
Please. (Thanks to the Fevered Brain I did a little link correction
here, please let me know if it isn't working.)

an email from Kelsey

I worked with Kelsey at the museums and we bonded at once
even though she is decades younger than I am. You will love
Aisling's blog.  The Fevered Brain and I hate Pay Pal so I asked
for her address and am sending a check. Let me know if you
want that address. I don't know this young woman, but she is
now in my heart.

From Kelsey:

As most of you know my housemate Aisling has been fighting
stage 4 cancer for about 2 1/2 years.  The disease has taken a
few twists and turns but you should see this woman; she's
fucking fabulous! She's radiant, positive and the best friend a
person could ask for. She's also a fox. So inspirational.
Her physical strength varies day by day and is not able to
work, and the last thing we all want her to stress about is money!
Her biggest expenses are medicine, travel expenses and food.
Things are a bit trying right now and she will be leaving in the
winter back home to Ireland to heal and be with her family.
I ask on her behalf to help support this special woman in my
life through donation.

Donating is super easy. Just follow the link to her blog, and
click the Heart.  All donations will be transferred directly to her.
ANY donation big or small is appreciated!! Also, all who donate
will receive a custom airbrushed DoMoney tee from my gallery.
PSYCH.

Her Link

Please feel free to forward this to anyone, co- workers, neighbors,
friends and family you know, ya?
Really, whole heartedly thanks everyone for your support;
we are truly nothing without each other
