we still march

my march-mates

determined

Thanks to the Blogmaid and family for hitting Market Street with me
yesterday for the Women's March. It's inspiring to see young and old
gather to give each other hope and some smiles for the clever signs
and costumes. You have my back in the bottom photo ~ note pussy
hat and gloves. It was cold for SF...but so much warmth.

HT battle the blues

Like most thinking adults, I have to fight off depression from
time to time. Yesterday an older co-worker fell and broke her
hip and I'm worried about her. Michael is home and exhausted
after the chemo #3 (he has one more round to go) so he is on
my mind, as always. Mistress Jane has written an outstanding
letter to HealthNet on her Breast Cancer blog over there on
the right and I wish everyone in America could read that.

I'm tired of the right wing and their constant yammering and
ickiness. Can we not have ONE day when they don't grab every
headline? So last week when Jon Stewart and Colbert
announced their March on Washington on 10.30.10, I said
"hoooooooray, it's about time!" and/or words to the effect.
It is time for some sanity, some humor and a reminder that
we won the 2008 election and we have made progress. Not
enough, but some. I think the Consumer Protection Agency
is a big step forward and someday we will have universal
health care that works. Some day. Onward.

i am a dolt

Last night we watched Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann as they
discussed the tax protesters ~ they had their adorable left wing smirks
on every time the term "tea bagging" was used. Before I went to bed
I checked the Urban Dictionary and now I understand why these
patriots were so upset and of course I'm greatly amused. But because
this blog has thousands of readers under 18, I will let you look this
up for yourself. Or maybe Husbando and I are the only ones who didn't
GET the joke, although looking at the protesters on TV, I betcha they
were just as clueless as we were.

tuesday with many topics

First we have RR (and pony) and her imposing new friend whom I
have named Ugly-as-Sin, but that's just my November Negativity.
I'm sure the blogmaid can help you find your own dino, if anyone out
there is interested.

I'm off today. How can anyone concentrate on work on a day like
this? I requested this day about 2 months ago when I started becoming
obsessed with the future of our country and world. Of course we
already voted by mail, but I want to see the Talking Heads, especially
Jon Stewart and Colbert who have a special tonight. One needs to
be rested and refreshed for a night of TV. We were invited to a party
but I don't want to be social when I can be in my elegant sweat suit
with a TV tray on my lap.

The sunshine has returned! Maybe our painter will do the same.
Husbando calls our kitchen "the blue grotto" and our jokes about
the holidays with ladder accessories are not as funny as they
once were.

Writing. What's that? I do plan to do some on my 3-day weekend.
And reading, walking, napping. But first ~ blueberries!

Let's hope we can all celebrate with our Obama victory tomorrow.

with a wink here, a giggle there...

...from my morning email to the blogmaid:

The thing about Sarah ~ she is just so darn likable and I
don't think she is as stubborn as Bush and most right wing
conservatives are. She is not stupid, just poorly educated.
There is a reason why so many politicians are lawyers. One, they
know LAW (like the constitution) and two, they are usually extra
bright and can think quickly on their feet. She did a great job filling
air time last night, even though she ignored a lot of the questions,
which is something I could never do. I think the GOP feel better
about her now, but we still need to concentrate on The Maverick and
getting Obama and Biden elected. We all thought Biden was quite
wonderful and got in some subtle zingers like what the VP actually
does, according to the constitution. And I liked how he zapped Cheney
so thoroughly. I do not understand how women can wink like that and
we all "WTF?" when she did so. I don't think being a soccer mom really
qualifies one for the White House, but you will know better about that
when you actually reach that stage in RR's development.

We had a fine time at The Great Plotnik's and husbando's famous
mac-and-cheese was a huge hit. TGP had his computer on the Dodger
game and he was glowing while we were analyzing the debate and
checking out the two candidates thoroughly.
