 let's skip to some important news today:

Richard Plaud, a Frenchman who has dreamed of building the world's tallest matchstick sculpture, made headlines this week when Guinness World Records rejected his huge model of the Eiffel Tower, saying Plaud broke the rules.

"It hurt me," Plaud told TF1 French TV news. News outlets reported on his disappointment that his work was rejected.

But after an official review, "it seems that we have been heavy-handed in the application of our rules in this case," Guinness World Records Director of Central Records Services Mark McKinley said in an email to NPR as Guinness announced the reversal.

paper thin

 What's wrong with this picture? 1) it's warm, I don't need the fireplace 2) the Sunday SF Chronicle is a joke. I can't seem to break the newspaper habit even though it is expensive and just a sliver of what it once was. I do recycle ~ neighbor Heidi gets the Sunday paper and Neti gets all the crossword and sudoku puzzles. And Doonesbury still amuses me, but really everything can be found online. Go figure.

 I don't listen to a lot of podcasts, but Serial was an exception. I have often wondered what happened to Mr. Syad but the wheels of justice do grind slowly and after 22 years in prison he was released yesterday. This podcast back in 2014 was extremely well done and convincing, in my opinion.
